David Akers has been released by the San Francisco 49ers after having one of the worst seasons in his entire 15 year career. Akers began the 2012-2013 season really strong by making a 63 yard field goal tying an NFL record against the Green Bay Packers, which the 49ers won 30-22. Since then Akers has been nothing but terrible, making only 69% of his field goals the whole 2012-2013 season.
Akers signed with the San Francisco 49ers on July 2011 for three years and $9 million but he will not get paid the last $3 million because he is no longer a 49er.
