If you ever wanted to watch a supernatural TV show that does not include zombies or vampires, try Sleepy Hollow. It’s a thrilling supernatural drama series that tells the “modern-day” retelling of the old classic, “The Legend of Sleeping Hollow.” The series began with Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, a old Patriot who “died” during the American Revolution, waking up in modern day Sleepy Hollow, New York. Shortly afterword, the headless horseman (later revealed to be Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) is summoned form beyond. It is revealed the the resurrection of one caused the resurrection of the other due to the intertwining of their fates during the American Revolution.

Lt. Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie, begins investigating the Headless Horseman after he beheads Sheriff August Corbin, Mills’ mentor and partner. Mills’ investigation reveals the presence of two occult groups in Sleepy Hollow, both of which are concerned with the Four Horsemen and the associated apocalypse. The killing spree of the Horseman causes Crane and Mills to work together.

So far, the series brings an old classic back to life with a modern day twist. I greatly enjoy the suspense, plot, and character development from one episode to the next. I laughed when the headless horseman broke into a cop’s house and stole a shotgun and assault rifle, seeing how he couldn’t kill people quick enough with his axe. The series has been a blast and I recommended watching it.
