Holiday Cookies in a Jar

What you’ll need:

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup chocolate-covered candy (such as holiday M&M’s or Hershey’s Holiday Candy Coated Bits)
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup cocoa crisped-rice cereal (or regular flavor)
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a 1-quart wide mouthed jar, add the ingredients in the order listed above.
  2. Pack them down firmly after each addition.
  3. Print out the instructions onto a rectangle white card stock and decorate with markers.  Punch a hole in the corner for the ribbon. Place a 6-inch narrow ribbon through the hole. Tie ribbon on the jar’s neck, securely.
  4. Screw on the lid and prepare a gift tag with the cooking instructions:
  • To make your holiday cookies:
    • Cream together ½ cup of butter or margarine, ½ tsp vanilla extract, and 1 egg in a large mixing bowl.
    • Add the content of the jar and stir until well blended.
    • Drop rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
    • Bake at 350 F for 10 to 12 minutes.
    • Servings: 4 dozen

Movie Night Basket

What you’ll need:

  • 2 Christmas Movies (preferably The Polar Express and E.L.F.)
  • Popcorn
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Popcorn container

Instructions:

Simply just place all the items in the popcorn container.  It is best to make the basket look presentable and nice.  If the items look too small when put into the popcorn container, you can put newspaper or shredded paper into the bottom of the container to give it some height.  Also, for more stability, tape the items down.
