Grammy Nominations for 2014

Record of the year:

-Daft Punk ft. Pharrell – “Get Lucky”

-Lorde – “Royals

-Imagine Dragons – “Radioactive

-Bruno Mars –Locked out of Heaven”

-Robin Thicke ft. T.I and Pharrell – “Blurred Lines

Most favored to win in this category, would probably be Lorde’s album, “Royals”.  Considering how much of a hit it was this year, especially for its “Mainstream pop appeal” and its lyrical content.

Best New Artists:

-Kendrick Lamar

-Ed Sheeran

-Kacey Musgraves

-James Blake

Most favored to win for this category would be Kendrick Lamar. Having already had such a major impact on rap today, and the huge success of his new album, “Good kid, M.A.A.D City”.

Album of the year:

-Sara Bareilles – “The Blessed Unrest”

-Kendrick Lamar – “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City”

-Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – “The Heist”

-Daft Punk – “Random Access Memories”

-Taylor Swift – “Red”

Most favored would also be again, Kendrick Lamar due not only to its success, but the “autobiographical intensity” in the album.

Song of the year:

-Jeff Bhasker, Pink & Nate Ruess – “Just Give Me a Reason”

-Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine & Bruno Mars – “Locked Out of Heaven”

-Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Bonnie McKee, Henry Walter & Katy Perry- “Roar”

-Joel Little, Ella Yelich O’Connor & Lorde – “Royals”

-Ben Haggerty, Mary Lambert, Ryan Lewis, & Macklemore – “Same Love”

Most favored to win this category would most likely be Macklemore’s, “Same Love”.  This song was a huge hit and showed a very different side to Rap with its lyrical content and a very different side to Macklemore’s style of music.

Best Pop Duo:

-Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams – “Get Lucky”

-Pink Featuring Nate Ruess – “Just Give Me a Reason”

-Rihanna Featuring Mikky Ekko – “Stay”

-Robin Thicke Featuring T.I. & Pharrell Williams – “Blurred Lines”

-Justin Timberlake & Jay Z – “Suit & Tie”

Most favored to win for this album would most likely be “Get Lucky,” which was a very big hit, and everyone loved the duo with Daft Punk, who is in the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) category, and Pharrell Williams who is typically more R&B and Hip Hop.

Best Pop Vocal:

-Lana Del Rey – “Paradise”

-Lorde – “Pure Heroine”

-Bruno Mars – “Unorthodox Juxbox”

-Robin Thicke – “Blurred Lines”

-Justin Timberlake – “The 20/20 Experience”

Most favored for this category is a tough call between Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience” and Lana Del Rey’s “Paradise”.   “Paradise” was such a huge success for newcomer Lana, and appealed to a wide fan-base who enjoyed her different type of Pop music.  Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience”  was also a huge success, and basically his “comeback” album.

Best Rap Vocal:

-Drake – “Nothing Was the Same”

-Jay Z – “Magna Carta…Holy Grail”

-Kendrick Lamar – “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City”

-Macklemore  & Ryan Lewis – “The Heist”

-Kanye West – “Yeezus”

Most favored for this category would definitely be Drake’s “Nothing Was the Same”.  Not only was this album much favored by his fans but was probably Drake’s best album yet!

This year’s nominations will be quite interesting.  It is tough competition between all the artists but definitely will be a good show with many different and new talented artists being brought to the floor. The awards will air January 26th, 8:00 EST on the CBS channel.  Don’t miss out!
