With a Grammy nomination and a platinum-selling debut album all occurring within the last two years, Suffolk-based singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has won the hearts of his fans, singing songs such as “The A Team”, “Lego House”, and “Give Me Love.” Teenagers have taken a liking to him due to his songwriting abilities, and his focus on love, heartbreak, and teen angst into life.
Following the success of his debut album “+” (pronounced “Plus”), Sheeran has recently announced “X” (pronounced “Multiply”), his upcoming sophomore effort. According to Sheeran, the album will feature new collaborations with several artists, such as the first single “Sing”, which was written by Sheeran with hit music producer Pharrell Williams. In contrast to “+”, in which its songs were written by Sheeran and producer Jake Gosling, Sheeran has more of the creative control on “X”, having completely written half of the songs except for five co-written with featured songwriters.
With a sound that’s relatively new to Sheeran and his fans, “Sing” is heavily beat-driven and has a faster, up-tempo that is in contrast to his current repertoire of smooth guitar melodies.
The album went up for pre-order on iTunes and other major digital music retailers last April 18th. “X” has a tentative release on June 23rd, 2014. To pre-order “X”, visit the iTunes Store and reserve your copy now!
