Microsoft recently made a major change to its online gaming subscription service. There will no longer be a requirement for an Xbox Live Gold membership to access third party applications such as Netflix and Hulu. This new change will be starting and taking effect this June.
As a result of this announcement there were many customers who had purchased and paid for these subscription that they now no longer need because they will have access to Netflix and Hulu Plus in June. Microsoft has offered a solution to these costumers.
Once the update takes effect in June Xbox live costumers will have the option to cancel their subscription for a refund. This option has not been offered by Xbox until now and Microsoft’s recent decision will allow more Xbox users to access third party apps.
Microsoft stated “If you purchased a Gold membership before the changes to Gold are available in June you have until 31 August 2014 to cancel, receive a pro-rate refund.”
